How EHS is Structured

EHS provides services to the campus community through the following structure:

  • Administrative Support
    Administrative staff provides clerical and computer support to the rest of the department.
  • Environmental Management
    The Environmental Management Section covers a wide variety of topics including those listed under the Environmental Matters program area and the Hazardous Materials program area. In addition the section encompasses industrial hygiene and occupational safety services under the Workplace Safety program area.
  • Laboratory Safety
    The Laboratory Safety section addresses the topics found under the Laboratory Safety program area, the Biological Safety program area and the Chemical Safety program area. In addition the section covers the topics found under Food Safety program heading, the Fire Safety program heading and the Pool Safety and Laser Safety programs.
  • Radiation Safety
    The Radiation Safety section is responsible for the topics found under Radiation Safety program area.

Topics and programs addressed by EHS that are not related to the internal structure include the Personal Protection program and Training on general safety as well as specific to each program.
