Chemical Redistribution Program

Environmental Health & Safety operates a Chemical Redistribution Program (Chemical Exchange) as part of the overall MU Hazardous Material Services program. The objective is to collect chemicals from those who have no use for them and redistribute them to those who need them. A link appears below for EH&S Assistant, which contains the current inventory of items available. The online inventory is organized alphabetically by chemical name, but all characters in the name (including parentheses and numbers) are used. Also shown for each chemical entry is the manufacturer name, catalog number, quantity available, and a storage location which is handy to have when you arrive at the Chemical Redistribution Building.

A map to the Chemical Redistribution Building may be found at the bottom of this page. You will need to go there to pick up the chemicals you want.

These chemicals are available at no charge to MU faculty and staff enrolled in the EHS Registered User program, and they are for University use only. Chemical training must be current, and this will be verified prior to the transfer of chemicals to the PI's inventory. Please follow these instructions for transporting items from the Chemical Redistribution Building.

To obtain additional information on the Chemical Redistribution Program or confirm your enrollment status, contact Environmental Health & Safety at hazmat@missouri.edu or call us at (573) 882-3736.

Chemicals Available

Important Notice: You will need your PawPrint (the part of your email address before the "@") and PawPrint Password (the one used to access email and all official MU systems) to login to EH&S Assistant. You should only need to login once per session. Firefox (and some other browsers) may require you to accept a one-time security certificate for authentication.

Once logged in, you will see a section titled "CHEM"; the top link in that section ("Inventory") is the the one you want.  The PI's inventory is selected by default, and you will need to click the right radio button to select the Chemical Exchange inventory.  Similarly, "All Items" is the option for showing the list of chemicals; to use the search function, click the middle radio button ("Show me Chemicals where") to bring up the search options.

The Chemical Redistribution Building is marked with an "A". Note the locations of Memorial Stadium at the left and Highway 63 at the right.
