The purpose of this class is to meeting the basic training needs of all biohazardous material workers. Topics covered include biosafety organization, biosafety levels, risk assessments, safety procedures, sharps, select agents, security, inspections, biohazardous material types, purchase, shipment, storage, use, waste disposal, emergency procedures and available resources. All biohazardous material workers in at biosafety level 1 or above laboratory must complete this training prior to starting work and every 3 years thereafter.

This course is hosted by HSI and can be found in EHS Assistant Training Portal.  If the training course is not assigned to you it can also be found under "Additional Resources" in the HSI portal. The Biosafety course is comprised of two modules:  EHS201 MU Specific Biosafety Training, and EHS202 Biosafety Training.  You must complete both modules and score at a minimum 80% on each assessment or quiz to receive credit for this course.
