Back Safety and Injury Prevention (EHS722)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

This course covers the reasons for back injuries and ways to prevent them. Proper lifting techniques and exercises will be discussed.

The Back Safety and Injury Prevention course is comprised of one module:  EHS722 Back Safety and Injury Prevention Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Driver Safety (EHS750)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

This purpose of this course is to familiarize employees that drive as part of their work with the hazards of driving and methods that will protect them from potential driving crashes.

This class is not intended to cover driving requirements associated with commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) or the use of a commercial driver's license (CDL).  This class does not address safety concerns associated wit the use of off-road (ATV) vehicles, motorcycles, towing a trailer, or load securement while hauling equipment such as in the bed of a pickup truck.

The Driver Safety Training course is comprised of one module:  EHS750 Driver Safety Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Van Safety (12- and 15-Passenger)

Now offered by MUPD

 

The purpose of this class wasto enable the student to gain an understanding of safety precautions and hazards associated with operating a 12- or 15-passenger van. Coaching the Van Driver III training package by the National Safety Council and FLI Learning System Inc. was used. The course included topics such as: Vehicle Inspection/Vehicle Characteristics, Safe Driving Skills, Driving Environments, Special Considerations, Transporting Cargo and Transporting Passengers. This class was intended for all campus drivers of 12- and 15-passenger vans.

Forklift Safety (EHS751, 752, 753, 754, and 755)

Course Length: 2 Hours Register

 

The course covers the basics of forklift and lift vehicle safety. Topics of discussion includes vehicle condition and type, center of gravity, lift load, operation procedures, potential hazards & accidents, battery/LP gas use, emergencies and available resources.

The Forklift Safety Training course is comprised of five modules:  EHS751 Forklift Fundamentals, EHS752 Safe Driving, EHS753 Stability and Capacity, EHS754 Inspection and Maintenance, EHS755 Load Handling. You must complete all five modules and score at a minimum 80% on each assessment or quiz to receive credit for this course.

 

Compressed Gas Safety (EHS170)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to educate employees about compressed gas safety and the hazards associated with cylinder dispensing, control components, and contents.

The Compressed Gas Safety course is comprised of one module:  EHS170 Compressed Gas Safety Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Confined Space Entry Awareness (EHS710)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to educate employees about the existence of confined spaces, the type of hazardous conditions that can be present in them and the basic requirements for entry into permit-required confined spaces.

All employees that could approach a confined space are required to complete this training program initially and then again every three years.

The Confined Space Entry Awareness course is comprised of one module:  EHS710 Confined Space Entry Awareness Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Confined Space - Permit Required (EHS711)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to educate employees who enter, supervise entry or attend the entry of a confined space about the practices and procedures necessary to protect employees from the hazards of permit required confined spaces.

All employees that could approach a confined space are required to complete this training program initially and then again every three years.

Electrical Safety (EHS736)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to prepare workers to work safely with and around electricity.  This class does not address arc-flash hazards and controls, lock-out/tag-out procedures, or high voltage (220V or 440V) electrical safety.

The Electric Safety course is comprised of one module:  EHS736 Electrical Safety Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Hand and Power Tool Safety (EHS732)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to train employees whose work includes the use of hand and portable power tools to recognize the potential hazards associated with these tools' use and demonstrate proper procedures, which will enable them to avoid workplace accidents.  Tools to be covered include manual, electric, pneumatic, liquid-fueled, powder-actuated, and abrasive wheel tools.

Lock Out and Tag Out (EHS734)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to create awareness about the purpose of lock and tag procedures and employee roles and responsibilities related to lock and tag requirements.  The class provides and overview of the hazards of uncontrolled energy sources and employer responsibilities and requirements for lock and tag.  It also briefly outlines steps to protect workers.

Hearing Conservation (EHS747)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to train employees to recognize the impact of noise on hearing, know the recommended noise exposure limits, wear the provided hearing protection in hazardous noise level areas, and recognize how their company's Hearing Conservation Program protects workers' hearing.

Hot Work with Arc Welding (EHS735)

Office Ergonomics (EHS721)

The purpose of this class is to familiarize office workers and their managers with the principles of ergonomics in order to help them reduce or prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

The Office Ergonomics course is comprised of one module:  EHS721 Office Ergonomics Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Industrial Ergonomics (EHS720)

The purpose of this class is to identify contributing factors and corrective actions to eliminate or minimize cumulative trauma disorders occurring in the workplace.

Scaffold Safety (EHS730)

Course Length: 20 minutes Register

 

The purpose of this class is to enable learners to recognize basic types of supported and suspended scaffolds and their capacity requirements; identify who is qualified to design, construct, and inspect scaffolds, recognize hazards posed by scaffolds work and identify requirements and safe practices for working safely from scaffolds.

Ladder Safety (EHS731)

Personal Fall Arrest Systems (EHS739)

The Personal Fall Arrest System course is comprised of one module:  EHS739 Personal Fall Arrest Systems Training.  You must complete the module and score at a minimum 80% on the assessment to receive credit for this course.

 

Elevated Work Surfaces

Not Currently Available

 

(8/15/2023: CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. EHS is in the process of providing an online version of this course.) This class is designed to provide information to assist in identification of the many hazards associated with working surfaces especially elevated working areas. Specific topics covered in this program include; Housekeeping, Covers and Guardrails, Floor Loading, Determine and Protection of an Opening, Stairways, Portable and fixed ladders and Introduction to fall protection. Information will also be presented on evaluation and control of these hazards and what to do if asked to perform (or confronted with) associated hazard(s). EHS suggests that all skilled trades, custodial, etc., personnel as well their managers and supervisors attend this class.
