Food Facility Inspections
The monitoring program consists of inspections of all food service operations located on the University of Missouri campus. This includes Campus Dining, Intercollegiate Athletics, MU Student Center, hospital dining services, and all other shops and coffee areas of campus.
All inspections are conducted according to the 2023 Food Code to assure a safe and healthful eating experience. The 2023 Food Code is based on the HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points) format.
Accidents may happen. Should you have a question or complaint about any food service operating on campus, please contact the MU Sanitarian at (573) 882-7018. All complaints will be investigated promptly and the results available to the sponsoring party.
The food handler card is required of all who work in a campus food facility and must be obtained within 30 days of initial hire. EHS offer food safety classes 2-3 times monthly. The food handler card is issued after completion of the class and must be on file with the food service facility at all times.
The Missouri Food Code requires all persons in charge to be certified in sanitation management. A person in charge is anyone who is in charge of a food service facility at any time. EHS offers an 8 hour (1 day) class in Food Protection Management usually during the semester breaks to accommodate everyone. The Food Protection Management Certificate must be prominently posted in the food service area at all times.
The person in charge with Food Protection Management Certification must be present during all active food service operations. Special arrangements for either class can be made for groups at times other than scheduled. Please call EHS (573) 882-7018, MU Sanitarian for more information. The current training schedule can be found on the training schedule page of this web site.
