Veterinary Medicine Imaging Safety Orientation

The purpose of this self-paced, online course is to introduce new Veterinary Medicine Radiation Workers and Authorized Users to the particulars of the Radiation Safety Program at MU. The course includes Basic Radioactive Materials Radiation Safety, MU Veterinary Medicine Program Specific Radiation Safety, X-Ray Safety, and MRI safety. This course must be completed prior to working with Radioactive Materials, X-Ray devices, and MRI equipment at the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital.

The course is available through Canvas.  Directions for accessing the EHS-Radiation Safety Canvas page are below:

To complete Veterinary Medicine Imaging Safety Orientation, please visit the EHS-Radiation Safety Canvas page here.  Once you have accessed the page, you will need to click "Join this Course" in the top right corner of the screen (See image below.)

Each title under EHS 403 is an assignment for the class.  All assignments must be completed in sequential order as shown above.  To begin taking this class, click on the first assignment titled "Taking Veterinary Medicine Imaging Orientation" and read the directions carefully.

As you progress through the class, it may be beneficial to leave the presentations open in a separate window such that you can access them during the quiz.  You will have three attempts to achieve a 75% or greater on your quiz.  If after the third attempt, you have not passed, additional in person training may be required.  There are 56 questions on the quiz.  The training works best when using the web browser Firefox.

If there are issues accessing Canvas, please contact the Radiation Safety Program at ehs@missouri.edu or (573) 882-7018.
